Michie Cooper, a thread and fabric artist, is known for creating realistic painterly imagery through free-motion sewing. Cooper’s work explores the mood and nuances of contemporary life in New Orleans while showcasing architecture and Native flora. She Studies painting at Tulane University and has spent 14 years calling New Orleans home. Cooper’s new series, called “Chosen”, brings to the forefront the unique identities of local neighborhoods, specifically The Bywater and Marigny areas, and delves into the idea of chosen home.
